Is it true that pheromones work? and which one (s)?

i watched a show on that once...but i dont think humans know exactly how to make pheromones for us to use on eachother....i also heard that babys put out pheromones from their head...its one reason why some people like to smell babys heads ...its supposed to make them more appealing
