Is SpongeBob bad for tweens to watch?

I'm 12 years old and me and my friends like to watch SpongeBob. Some people make fun of us for doing this, but we're still kids. Teenagers wear elmo and hello kitty memorabilia so whats wrong with us watching SpongBob and wearing his memorabilia? Please don't answer if your just going to say that SpongeBob is gay.
