I need proper nods on vinyl records?

I have become disillusioned with MP3s and would like to build my clical music collection with vinyl records. I know absolutely nothing about vinyl records or players. Would someone be willing to nod my in the proper direction as to where to find a decent player and clical vinyl records? Or comprehensive information? I appreciate it! Thanks!
