Can you use toothpaste to get rid of pimples?

hey everyone is it true that if you put toothpaste in your pimples they will go away and i wan to try it but i dont know if its ok and if yes is it ok to use colgate thats a type of toothpaste? And when will they go away? Please help and thanks!!!
